Does anyone else not enjoy breastfeeding?

Cause I don't.

I bf dd until she was 18 months and am currently bf 12 week old ds. But dh said the other night, when I was about to feed ds again 'but you like it don't you' and the HV asked the other week if I was enjoying it.

And I don't. I don't suppose I would like bottle feeding either because either way it's just sitting giving your baby milk. I guess I breastfeed for the convenience, cost and of course benefits to baby and myself but I know lots of people who find it a good experience and I guess I'm just indifferent.

Just wondered if anyone else feels the same.

I do like it but I can't say I enjoyed it when DS was tiny - under say 9 months. I felt such a huge sense of responsibility and was constantly worried about what could go wrong (blocked ducts, mastitis, supply...). As he's got older and so his wellbeing no longer depends on it I've got a lot more relaxed about it. He's 2 now and, apart from the nipple pain, I can honestly say I love it - I love seeing the enjoyment he gets from it, and I love seeing him get sleepier and sleepier until he just drops off

For all these people who find the night feeds the hardest, have you tried lying down to feed your LO's? The exhaustive hour long sessions, the comfort sucking etc will seem a breeze when you can fall asleep whilst your LO is latched on. I do it in the day as well as the night with my 8mths old DS and find the feeds a breeze as I sometimes nod off with him. Not practical all the time I know but if you can do it most of the time, especially at night then BFing might be ess draining and tiresome.

Again, I was happy to do this after about 6 months and it helped hugely. Before then I was nervous...I know it can be done safely, but not sure I trust myself. Plus I did drink, again I took a few risks when DS was older and prepared to nip me in the nipple / punch me in the nose if I tried to roll on him, but when he was tiny I wouldn't have risked it.
