i used it, it was the formula that agreed with my refluxy baby the best, all the other brands made him puke.

lizziemun · 14/05/2009 18:50

Yes i am using it for ds because it is the only one that doesn't contain pre/probiotic's (sp) which i found upset dd2.

I would say if you do use it i would make sure you have a spare box as i do find it not alway available.

Flibbertyjibbet · 14/05/2009 18:53

I mix fed and was always happy with it.
I chose it on various grounds - its the cheapest, its organic, and it seemed to be the only one not claiming to be 'closer to breastmilk'.
All formulas are basically the same, so if you want to use that one then go ahead, when it comes to feeding your baby you shouldn't worry what any one else uses or thinks.

I used it for dd2 for the same reason as Lizziemum (no prebiotics - Aptamil made her do big stinky farts and have explosive diarrhoea).

You used to be able to order it online from Tescos and Sainsburys, and you can buy it from the Hipp website. The only annoying thing is that they don't do cartons, which i would have liked to use for out and about.

I have just started using it & I wish I has used it from the start. It's the cheapest, organic & it doesn't use uneccessary packaging.

GothAnneGeddes · 15/05/2009 01:54

I wished I'd used from the start too. It smells much nicer then the other brands.

The packaging is easily recyclable and you can get a storage tin from the Hipp website if you want.

thanks to you all for your advice, i was talking to a friend whos a health visitor and she said she is going to use aptamil if anything for her baby (she is also pregnant).it made me feel a bit mean as i said i was going to use it cos it was cheaper!!! i dont know how the others can charge so much, i think they keep the price up on purpose. i now feel much happier knowing so many mums are happy with it.
thanks again, much appreciated.

i have used it with DS2 whose mix fed. we tried him on cow & gate (made in the same factory by the same people as aptamil) but he was just sick.

you can buy it direct from Hipp and get free p&p. they also sell a plastic box to keep the sachets upright (only costs about £2.50).

Used it with DD when I stopped bf, when she was 6 mths and now doing same with DS. Both seemed to like it. I like that its organic and non GM. AND it's quite cheap. But at the end of the day, formula is formula isn't it really? The reason so many midwives recommend Aptamil is that it is aggressively marketed to them as being 'the closest to breastmilk'.

Using the follow-on one for DD2 and like it. You can get ready-made BTW, it comes in bottles and large branches of Boots sell it. Not quite as convenient as the little cartons as they are big enough for 2 or more bottles (about 500ml I think).
