Could my milk be too watery?

First baby 2 weeks old. Started breastfeeding but was made to formula feed in hospital while she had jaundice for 3 days. Since then have been mostly bf but topping up, gradually less and less with formula. Today she has spent a lot of time on the breasts - seems to be plenty of milk and no problems latching on but she has never got full up. Poo very very runny - coming out frothy. Eventually gave bottle this evening after about an hours feed and shes settled down now.
So, lots of milk but not filing her up - what could be wrong?
Thanks

Bfed poo is very runny ime. Sure someone better qualified than me will be along shortly but your milk will be fab I'm sure - afaik quality varies very little from woman to woman. If she's feeding constantly then it could be a growth spurt (they seem almost constant in the first few months) or she may just love sucking and feeling close to you

It sounds as though you're doing a great job and congrats btw!

Congratulations! Try not to worry. Sounds quite normal to me. I remember that at 2-3 weeks I was seemingly doing nothing but feeding my baby. I think they feed a lot whilst your milk supply establishes. I found it quite overwhelming but looking back it really is for just a short period, it just doesn't seem like that at the time.

I am sure that someone more qualified will be able to give you more reassurance.

Her poo sounds normal for a bf baby. If you have been ff and bf then your breasts will still be trying to adjust to her needs. Hence a lot of feeding. As long as she's poo-ing and wee-ing a lot then she's unlikely to be going without. Do you have any help so you can rest and just feed her while you both get used to it.

Have you got local bf counsellor who you can see?

leftangle : no such thing as milk that's too watery. Babies with free access to the breast and removing milk effectively get perfect milk every time Babies do sometimes go through times when they never seem full - normal and very common in these early weeks.

Frothy, runny poo is on the normal spectrum as is frequent feeding. Giving bottles of formula milk will impact on your supply...perhaps call one of the bf helplines and talk about it?

There was no reason why you couldn't have breastfed while your DD had jaundice, I think you've been let down by the hospital staff frankly.
In answer to your thread title - no, your milk is not too watery, it is absolutely perfect for your baby and will adapt to her needs as she grows. They do feed almost constantly at that age, you just have to accept it!
Congratulations!
