Anyone used/using glass bottles?

I'd like to try them with DC2 due in August. Looking at the Baby Nova, Green Baby and Nuk glass ones...has anyone had any experience with any of these? Any pros/cons to mention?

I was going to ask if they fit in ordinary sterilisers but after reading the thread about not sterilising I'm not sure I want one now!

BTW I will be breastfeeding but need bottles for expressing and when I stop (tells self off for caring what people think)

My cousin in the States uses them and they love them!!!!! They fit into their steam steriliser .... but U.S sizes may well be different. Only problem ....... as the baby drinks more, the bottles are heavier as there is more in them to begin with They haven't been bothered about this but their friends that don't use them say that it could be an issue?????!!!!! - They think they are the business - go for it -I think they are beautiful!

Thanks HP, there does seem to be a wider range available in the States. A while ago I saw an advert for one which had a kind of net/sleeve thing on it which protected it from breaking if you dropped it but I can't find them now.

Not come across anything like that ...... but they are pretty thick glass - it's probably have to be more of a throw than a drop?!!!!!

I spoke to someone at Born Free re: glass bottles as I was concerned due our floors downstairs being tile/wood.

She said that plastic would be better for babies/toddlers/hard floor combination, but would be fine on carpet...

Hi, I'm using the Emil glass bottle once a day or once every two days. Not dropped it yet! It doesn't fit in the hole in the microwave steriliser but I just put it in at an angle and the lid can then close so it's not a problem.

NUK are easy to clean and sturdy. You have to use the teats though. Narrow neck ones are more flexible, ie you can swap and change if baby doesn't like them. Green Baby ones are fine but thinner glass. The best IMO are a brand called 'mister baby' that are sometimes on eBay.

They are great for EBM because the method of standing the bottle in hot water actually works very quickly with glass rather than plastic which insulates the milk!
