If his tounge looks like cottage cheese it could be thrush.Get drops from the docs tomorrow. He does sound like he has wind/colic.Gentlely massage his tummy in a semi circle starting on his bottom right side and going to his bottom left.only as high up as his tummy button.Use some oil try olive or almond.then gently push his knees into his chest and hold for 8 seconds.repeat the whole thing.Look up baby massage for more advice.keep him close to you he needs you.Colic does not last forever but can be very upseting for all.He will also get exhausted with the pain.Swaddle him and let him sleep.(not easy)Good luck.It will pass be strong for him. x

Without going into a lot more detail on everything that's going on for you at the moment it's hard to know whether it's thrush or something else. For example, depending on how everything else is, what you describe might also be consistent with a baby not being latched onto the breast as efficiently as they might be and so perhaps swallowing air, or sometimes comes with mums who have a particularly fast flow of milk. There's a BfN factsheet on thrush that may be helpful to you, which you can access from here.

Breastfed babies do sometimes get what is termed 'colic'. The last link under the "documents" section of this page is a helpful look at colic and breastfed babies]].

Newborns often do have noisy digestion, but in some cases it means nothing at all. Sometimes lots of wriggling around and pulling the knees up etc can actually be a signal that a baby is hungry again/still. Also, what is it that leads you to think he may have trapped wind. Often when babies do not burp it;s because they simply don;t need to. If they then become distressed and cry lots, this can lead to swallowing air, and then often a burp will pop out. However, it can be hard to distinguish the wind as a cause or effect of the crying, IYSWIM?

I hope things improve for you soon.
