i know he will be 9 months then but for a variety of reasons he is only just getiing into solid food so it will still be pretty intensive expressing - annd not just 'comfort expressing' for my benefit as i had hoped

I ffed form quite early, but my bfing friends have used a variety. Aptimal smells the least bad, but buy a carton of a few varieties and try them - ds may have a preference.
Hopefully, you won't need them.

DD went onto Aptimil 3 at 7 months when I went back to work. She took it with no problems.

purpleflower · 05/05/2009 10:47

DD who is 7 months and BF very happily takes cow and gate first milk.

popsycal · 05/05/2009 11:55

as a suspeted, all are different!
I doubt i will need it but life is so busy sometimes now that I don't want to put extra pressure on myself as going bak to work is going to be hard
i expressed with ds2 for about a year

DD took Aptamil ready made, and then HIPP, which she now glugs down with relish!

popsycal · 05/05/2009 19:18

thanks all

think i will start with aptamil or hipp and just get ready made

I doubt i will give it as i will probably be able to express fine (am a stubborn ow)
but i dont want to be sitting up at 11pm at night to express the final 2oz i need for the next day (shudders at memory of dark, dark days in winter 2005)

Dont think hipp does ready made except for rip off 'Growing up milk' for older babies, 12m+ IIRC.
DD was always happy with Hipp follow on though, and it has 2 sachets in the box so if you're not using much the whole carton won't 'go off' as quick, eg each sachet can be open for 3 weeks I think.

Vizzle · 27/05/2009 14:42

when I express milk for my 9 week old baby how many ounces should I give her

Vizzle · 27/05/2009 14:46

can anyone tell me how much expressed milk my 9 week old baby needs for a feed. I usually express about 4 ounces but she still seems hungry. Is this enough?

elkiedee · 27/05/2009 15:17

Vizzle, welcome to MN if you're new, and if you're not, hi. Your question is very different from the original post here - I think you'd get more help with this if you post it as a new question.

Just to add, Aptamil works for us (DS 5 months), and DD happily went on to HIPP at 8/9 months. Interesting about the HIPP sachets. We're on the cusp of whether it's worth buying a big tub than cartons and DH is against it as they go off, but the sachets would overcome this. Then again would I use more because I had a big tub there, hmm...
