here sorry if this has been posted already! My dad cut it out for me, bless him, after all the trouble I had with my dd who was a small birth weight and didn't put on loads in the first few weeks of bf-ing.

Some of the comments below are a bit and the article doesn't say much that I don't think we don't know already but it's nice to see it in print!

Hmmm... some of the comments are interesting.

One point in particular is the perception that the charts will be a cure-all for slow gaining babies. In the first few months the new charts will actually predict faster growth than the existing red book charts. It is only after that the rate is slower with breastfed babies being at their smallest compared with the existing charts at about 14 months. So for babies who are slow to get going in the first few weeks they will still look slow on the charts. Hopefully the training package accompanying the rollout of the charts will emphasise the need for a proper breastfeeding assessment, not simply to recommend formula top-ups.

Yes, there definitely will . Let's just hope lots of health professionals take it up.
