Benefits of breast milk to baby after 6 months

Hi I would really appreciate some advice on my situation. The background is that I've BF my DD for 6 months (she will be 28 weeks on Monday) and I'm going back to full time work on Tuesday. I haven't managed exclusive BF beyond the first couple of months (long story). She's had 50% BF and 50% FF since she was about 3 months old. I started weaning at 21 weeks on paed's advice and she's taken to it very well. She's having 3 solids meals a day, including protein at lunchtime. I've been easing off BF since she turned 26 weeks and am now just pumping once a day, in the late evening, and am getting about 4 ounces only. DD has been fine with the transition to more formula- no ill effects.

My question is: are there health benefits to DD of continuing to get at least some of my breast milk beyond the 6 month mark? I'm really having trouble getting hold of info on this. If there are benefits to her then I'm happy to keep pumping late at night so I can continue to give her even that small amount (while my supply holds out). TBH, if my circumstances were different then I would quite like to continue to breastfeed for longer. However, I'm the main breadwinner in the family, don't have any choice other than to go back to full time work next week, and I work very long and very unpredictable hours (e.g. business travel on short notice or no notice). So I just have to try and do the best I can by DD in these circumstances. Should I keep pumping?

Sorry I should clarify that once I'm back at work any breast milk DD gets will most likely be EBM because of my hours. That's the reason I'm focussing on pumping. Hope that makes sense.

Are there benefits? Absolutely. I found some info before - I think it was on kellymom - that said that even 50ml of breastmilk a day is beneficial (thay haven't done studies on less than this).
DD is still getting antibodies from your milk which will help protect her against some illnesses, I'll try and find a link for you.

just to add you are doing great

Your antibodies in the milk will help fight illnesses, the fatty acids in the milk will help brain growth - there is so much goodness. Agree on Kellymom - it's a fab site. Best wishes.

Here's a link about benefits for older babies (ie over 1) so if it still benefits them it must be even more beneficial to a baby under a year!

Here you go - look at the third and fourth point on the "benefits of partial breastfeeding" - these will still apply if it's ebm.

oh dear, i don't know how i'm going to function back at work: i saw the section on kellymom re benefits for babies over one and failed to make the blindingly obvious connection that if it benefits the over ones then it's clearly going to benefit the under ones too. thanks going nowhere. i'm actually reasonably switched on in RL but my brain seems to have turned to mush....!

tell me about it, I have permanent baby brain!
The second link may help more as well.

yes it looks good, thanks so much. DD now up and bouncing about so will have to read properly once she's down again....
however, from what i've read so far it looks like i won't be hanging up my pump for a bit yet
