This is probably a ridiculous question but don't shoot me down...

Hi
I'm breastfeeding my son (I already have daughter) and he is really thriving. Born 6 weeks ago today, weighing in at 8lbs 10oz. He now weighs 12lbs 9oz, therefore putting on approx 10oz a week (crikey!). I've been feeding him roughly every 3 hours during the day, waking him if necessary, but demand feeding in the night. He mainly eats and sleeps and is rarely awake for long.
Is it time I now left him to it and stopped waking him?
What I don't particularly want to happen is for him to start waking more at night if he isn't getting enough during the day. Having said that, I he had 4 snacks last night!
This feeding on demand thing is new to me as my daughter was tiny and I had to feed her on a strict schedule.
Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Let me know if you need any more info about him, I'm new to this.

well im not going to be of any use to you, as i just demand fed. I just wanted to say WOW - 10oz a week! Supermilk!!

I would continue to wake him for daytime feeds as it means your dd has her time with you when he is sleeping and it usually means less night wakings, he will also be getting into a growth spurt window so will likely want more feeds in the next few days/weeks.

I've always worked on the theory that more milk during the day=fewer wakings at night but that's not proving the case at the moment!
