My 11 wk old pulls at my nipple, kicks legs and waves arms around whilst feeding, why do they do this, does anyone know, is it because there is no milk left?? would welcome any advice, its really frustrating!

I think it is to stimulate your breast to produce more milk, but I find ds2 gets like this when he wants to swop sides and that doesn't necessarily mean that he's drained that breast.

Yes, tried other breast and he did it on that one too. Just feel like he's not getting the milk!

This happens to mne too - I try to offer the other one and it usually works, if it doesn't then I stop for 10 mins to see if she really wants to eat, then we try again. Its a pain but it works.

I know what you mean about thinking there is no milk tho - my lo is 11 weeks too and it feels sometimes that there is nothing there - its so different from the early days when it was really obvious! If lo is gaining weight, pooing and weeing you are probably fine.

Don't know what it means but don't believe it's because there's no milk left. I often just put ds2 (12 weeks) down just for 5 minutes and drink some water or milk or something, I think the important thing for me in that situation is to make sure I calm down and don't let myself get stressed about it. Like dan39, that seems to work.

fidgeting and fussiness are perfectly normal and often associated with growth spurts. My DS has been fidgety and fussy since day 1 though....He's 6 mo now and usually by the end of a feed he has almost wriggled off my lap!

There is some more information on kellymom about general fussiness. It's a really good website for general queries and my first port of call if something isn't going right
