My dd is 5 months 3wks and I went back to work 5 weeks ago, i bf first thing in the am and then when i get back from work and the rest of the day she has formula. I bf tonight before she went to bed but she was fussing from one breast to the other i am worried that she isn't getting enough milk, might it be better to just give her the rest of the expressed milk i have and formula? oh and i am giving her baby rice at lunch time.
thanks

Mary

If you feed her, it will come
seriously it is a supply and demand thing

baby crying but wil l be back later

the more you feed the more milk you'll have. Can you express a bit more to keep your supply going?

Agree with popsy. If you feed your baby, esp[ecially with a well established suply, you will have suffient miilk.Fussing at this age could be anything- incluidng teeth, cold, hayfever / stuffy nose, or just a baby getting used to a new routine.

there is certainly no indication of a need for formula, and whilst if you would choose to give it through preference you can say you've done really well and be proud of yourself, there is no need or indicator of a need, IYSWIM.

Thanks to you all, I know that Breast milk is the best and I would like to keep it going as long as i am able but I haven't got enough to avoid the need for formula, sorry!.....

there is every likelihood you will make enough if you pump/feed on demand..the less you feed and pump, the less you will make.

ruty · 24/04/2009 18:10

you'll always have enough if you feed enough!

Peachy · 24/04/2009 18:36

Why do you think you don't have enough? Is it the fussing alone,or is there anthing else worrying you?

Fussing is normal abby behaviour at different satges (my ds4 is 1 and still BF and is doing it right now due to teeth....) but is there any other reasn?
