nursing bras and summer tops

I got out a strappy top to enjoy the sunshine yesterday and you can totally see my big, sturdy ultra-supportive Bravado badboy. Anyone have any suggestions of bras that aren't quite so all encompassing but that still give good support? I tried some Mothercare ones but just looked saggy and felt pretty 'dangly'... so, pretty-ish nursing bras that support jubblies and don't cost the earth...any ideas??

Sorry - not sure that pretty-ish, more strappy nursing bras have been invented yet...!! Hopefully another poster will prove me wrong!

I love Hot Milk ones - prob still quite sturdy but they are at least pretty. Not sure how supportive they are though (I'm a 36E, which is fine, but that's not huge). Also the pants don't go v big - I wear an XL, which I think is a 16, which I don't think is extra-large really!

Can usually get them half price if you hunt around - sale on at secretsales.com until midnight tomorrow and I think I get an incentive if you're kind enough to enter my email when you register (jenniestevenson at googlemail.com)

Thank you!! I'll have a look. I'm not a big size just paranoid about stretching my Cooper's ligaments too many Shock Absorber's adverts

Hee hee

I also like my Bravado Spice - just black cups but hot pink straps so don't mind too much showing them off.

Luverly! and sooo cheap hopefully these'll do the trick, put your email addy in too...

Many thanks!

I second the Hot Milk ones (I find the bras come up larger than my usual size though) and Elle Macpherson ones too (although tend to be quite high cut so likely to show above a strappy top)

The HM ones are the only ones I can wear with anything low cut.

dorisbonkers · 23/04/2009 00:14

I use the Anita Jacquard underwired ones -- I used to be 32DD, now a 32F.

I've worn them every single day for 6 months and they're still holding up.

Yeah, the Mothercare ones are rubbish!

doulalc · 23/04/2009 02:45

Just as note on underwire bras as dorisbonkers mentioned. Some women will find the underwire bras the most comfortable and supportive, but some will find they can be more likely to cause blocked milk ducts as well...especially up towards the armpit area. It would pay to actually be fitted for one or avoid it altogether.

MiniMarmite · 23/04/2009 14:10

I wore an underwired bra for half a day last week (thought it would be alright as I'm only partially breastfeeding now) but I got blocked ducts - v painful

Chulita · 23/04/2009 14:20

Ah...don't want that! Half a day is nothing, I was thinking I'd be alright if I just wore one every now and then but maybe not. Hmm...waiting for the postman to deliver my HotMilks now. He's 10 days late delivering my nappies so not holding my breath for these!

I have hot milk bras, and it might just be the ones I chose, but the straps are still kind of heavy duty- the bras are gorgeous but the straps just black on one, white on another and a bit sexy lingerie-ish on the third. when I was on holiday I wore a bravado bf tank top a lot which was brilliant, and I wore a really supportive halterneck bikini top with nice straps with other dresses/tops instead of a bra. This was great for a beachy holiday but can appreciate might not be suitable for regular wear. Now I am back in driech Scotland I emphatically do not have this problem!

logrrl · 23/04/2009 17:32

Well I deliberately didn't choose the pretty Elle McPherson bra in John lewis last week because I thought it didn't look sturdy enough...so maybe that might be the sort of thing you are looking for?

Chulita · 23/04/2009 18:17

Yea, I thought the Elle McPherson looked a bit flimsy, pretty but not worth risking saggy boobs! Might have a look at a bf tank top, I do get a bit resentful of having to pay £30 or so for something like that though [sigh]

This Elle one is the only nursing bra I've tried that I found supportive and comfortable enough for everyday use!

The other Elle ones were too flimsy for my liking though.
