4 month old - shiny new teeth and biting

Hi - my DD is 17 weeks old and in the last 10 days or so has sprouted 2 shiny new teeth. All well and good - although she has taken to signaling the end of a feed with a good old bite on my nipple - agony.

What can I do to stop this without scaring her (have heard you need to be careful that you don't scare them off the boob altogether).

TIA!

I have no idea whatsoever about this but DD has been teething for weeks now so I'll be in this boat at some point - just interested in what people suggest...sorry not to be any help, hope someone comes along soon!!

DS used to do this. I found that he would pause every so slightly between his last suck and the 'chomp', and I learnt to de-latch him quickly.

It was a very short lived phase, almost like he was testing what the teeth were for. He very very occasionally does it when he cuts a new tooth but even at 9 months a 'no' said firmly seems to have the desired effect and he doesn't do it again.

I'm watching to see if anyone else has any suggestions. DD was biting BEFORE her teeth started to come through so I'm a bit nervous now she's just cut her first.

Thanks alibaba - it's definitely at the end of a feed but she's usually gulping until the last second and then wades in with teeth. Such agony. Will keep a steely eye out and see if I can pre-empt her... Who knew 'milk' teeth could be so damn razor sharp!?

I'm in this position too. DS used to clamp down on my nips from time to time with sharp gums, then on Sunday, at 16 weeks (ner ner ne ner nerrr ) the first touth cut through the gum, so I'm living in fear quite frankly! When he nipped before I would shrink back and say 'that hurts Mummy' which I should imagine has no effect on a three month old, but is better than 'geroffme you bitting little bugger or it's the bottle for you' which is what I wanted to yell!

My ds got his first two teeth bewteen 4/5 months. And started biting as well, a couple of times making me yelp so much that I scared him and made him cry, and I ended up having to comfort him! It happened a few times, I kept my little finger right next to his mouth ready to delatch him as soon as his gums started to clamp down, and now he is 6 months and still bfing well and not biting.
