Well haven't been on this board for a long long time. I have sucessfully bf my DD for 33 months and was down to a bedtime feed. After not much of a struggle and a few tears - but not that many, she accepted the fact that it has come to an end.

I thought it would be a massive struggle but she took it on the chin really and happily exchanged 'beebees' for 3 bedtime stories.

All good things must come to an end and I suppose I am simply coming on here to pat myself on the back! I had a horrible start - mastitis, thrush, big chunk out a nipple that got infected, a ravenous feeded but when it all fell into place it was great.

I am quite emotional about it all really though pleased to have brought it to a close. I think I am more bothered than DD.

Anyway that's it now, Unless I have another one of course!

How lovely to hear it worked out so well for you and your dd

Fifitot, I just saw your post on the 'weirdly sad' thread and wanted to respond...33 months, wow! I thought 20 was good going. Congratulations for doing so well. It is a fab thing isn't it? The closeness is amazing and the health benefits too.

Well done you!

You ask in the other thread about the hormones, you may not feel it as badly as you were down to one feed a day (although what do I know, I am no expert) but I was doing countless feeds a day (20 maybe, sometimes more ) so my hormones were a bit messed up by it.

Basically I just wanted to say that I understand the bittersweet feelings you are going through. It is hard and yet, at the same time good ending it. In a way, it is a momentous thing, but also quite isolating as so few people in RL are able to share it.

Thanks both of you. You're right about needing to share. Most people I've told just say 'so what' or are shocked I was still doing it!
