I know I should know this, but I am too ill to think straight...

I have caught slapped cheek from ds who had it last week.

Raging fever since monday, lots of sweating and today a rash.

My left nipple was getting a bit sore, so just fed off the other side (ds is 3.6yo so hardly taking any milk, no worries about engorgement etc). Now my right one is getting tender too.

Is this connected to the illness?

Also, doc gave me co-codamol and I forgot to ask if ok to take with bf. DS is a strapping lad and for all the milk he takes I am guessing it should be fine.

Reassure me please.

No idea about the sore nipple but co-codamol is fine unless you are one of the people that converts it to morphine.

And feel better soon

I can't answer about the slapped cheek thing, but I took a lot of pain killers (including cocodamol) when DS was newborn following Em CS and breastfed him with no obvious ill effects...

mawbroon · 16/04/2009 19:30

Yes, I had a cocktail of about 9 differnt drugs when I had CS, so i am sure it will be fine.

I told ds to be careful with my sore boob this morning. He said "you need to put cream on it mummy to make it better", then when he tasted the Lansinoh, he said it was yuk. Poor soul.

Tonight when he came back from Granny's (she has looked after him during the day for the last three days) he said "I will cuddle you to make you feel better, and I will stroke your hair gently"

Almost made me cry, he was so kind and lovely.

I must say that the cocodamol is magic. I felt much better shortly after taking it, and now feel awful as it wears off, but can't take any more for two hours.

Bump for the morning people.

My nips are now a bit itchy as well as sore. However, I have slapped cheek rash and am quite itchy all over, so it's likely that this is why.

DS is wanting to feed all the time, probably because he has spent more time away from me this week than he has in his whole life so far put together.

Any suggestions what I could do to help this?

I always find babies feed more when you/they are ill, something to do with swapping antibodies I think. Not that helpful if you're not feeling great! Can you snuggle up in bed together?

mawbroon · 17/04/2009 08:11

Nope, no chance. he's 3.6yo and wants to be out and about. I'm sending him to granny's again later.

He had the slapped cheek last week, so he is fine re the antibodies. I think he is just desperately needing my attention because I've not been able to deal with him much over the last few days.

sorry, shouldn't have assumed he was a baby . I would think bfs wd still help you get over it more quickly tho?

mawbroon · 17/04/2009 09:06

but there's my point! It is sore to feed him. Not toe curlingly so, but I don't want it to get any worse.

Will mention it to the doc when I go. Perhaps she will have some sensible suggestions.

Aw how sweet of him

Hope it stops being sore soon

mawbroon · 17/04/2009 17:51

Bloody doc laughed when I said ds was 3.6yo. If I hadn't been so ill, I would have asked her why she thought it was so funny.

Anyway, she suggested it might be thrush and to try canesten. Something I had thought of myself, so will give it a go.
