Why is my baby so windy?

My son is 5 and a half months old and is still very windy and gets quite upset about it, often crying in pain. He is my fourth baby and I have never known such a windy baby, my others grew out of it by 12-13 weeks.

He is formula fed on cow & gate 1st milk, I give him a massage every night before bed and I cycle his legs etc to encourage the wind out.

Has anyone had experience of a windy baby at nearly 6 months?

Also he has MAM anti-colic bottles and I have tried infacol and gripe water with no effect.

Mimi, my son's only 14 weeks so it's not the same but just wanted to say I sympathise as he is also very windy. It upsets him quite a lot - he is breastfed and I was told in hospital 'breastfed babies don't really get wind'. Ha! I am starting baby massage next week, so hoping that will help. Does the message seem to do anything for your son?

Hopefully if the message gets bumped someone else with a 5 month old may see it.

I am sure the massage helps, it's a part of our bedtime routine. I am hoping that as his digestive system matures he will suffer less. I just find it heartbreaking when he is when he is in pain.

Have you tried a cranial ostheopath? I've heard good reports from friends with colic/windy babies.
