Bitten nipple - ok to keep feeding?

I have a bit mark on my nipple going probably about a third of the way around. Was sore initially but now not too bad and looks clean but should I stop feeding DS in order to let it heal up? He is 12 months and really don't want to stop but only feeding off one boob so can't offer him the other. Don't want to lose the nipple! Any advice very welcome.

I kept on feeding when ds had bitten me, it didn't occur not to. He hadn't drawn blood but it was marked. I still have two nipples.

Keep feeding and rub some milk into it, it will probably help it heal. The stuff is magic dontcha know?!

Hi, my DD was a biter after about 10 months, so I can sympathise. It will be fine to feed from that breast as long as it is not sore or infected, but I understand your concerns about future biting.
Whenever it felt like DD was gearing up for a bite, or even gave a small chomp, I would sort of yelp in a low-key way - not enough to frighten her, but enough to distract her and make her stop. This worked for us, but I am sure there are loads of other remedies/ideas that other posters will be able to suggest.
Good luck.

The skin has broken - does that matter? It looks like it is starting to heal but worried it may not because it is kept wet a lot of the time by DS feeding. And yes, can't help but yelp which he seems to find very funny! Was only from enthusiasm I think, and not realising he has a mouth full of teeth!

Nipples were made for this sort of abuse. The wet thing does not seem to impede healing. Maybe yelp a bit harder?
Sorry, this sounds facetious, it isn't meant to - I am rushing off to prep buffet food for major Easter party tomorrow.

I used to take ds off the breast if he bit me and firmly and rather abruptly plonk him on the floor facing away from me and ignore him completely for a few seconds. I don't know if it worked, but he did stop biting eventually, but I got to know what face he'd pull when he was about to bite so I'd pull him off before he bit in the end.

Current thinking is you should keep the nipples moist when they heal. If they dry out they may crack further.
