Self-weaning 17 month old - does she need milk before bed?

My 17 month old would seem to be self weaning - she refuses milk whenever I offer. On the one hand, this is good because it is entirely her - I havent done anything diferently and have offered her milk as usual; I never wanted to have to 'make her' wean and was ready to keep feeding as long as she wanted (although people in RL are a bit shocked...). Anyway am a bit sad that it seems to be over - she hasnt had mummy milk since Tuesday. For the last three months she had only had one bf a day in any case (before bed). Now she won't have that and also won't go to sleep!!! (Didn't feed her to sleep but she used to calm down feeding and take it as cue to get into cot and wind down). Does she need to drink cows milk now? She never has other than in cereal and doesnt like it on its own. In terms of calcium, she does eat a lot of dairy - Weetabix every morning; yoghurts and fromage frais, cheese, etc. So my question is - is it okay for her not to have any milk (she's 17 mths).

Feeling a bit odd about this - happy she's done this herself so it's all her choice, sad that the snuggly part of bf is over (even though obviously we can still snuggle...).

My ds (20mnths) won't drink milk, I asked dr and hv what I should do and they said just ensure he gets his calcium elsewhere. I try to give him cereal every morning, plus a yogurt after lunch and perhaps some cheese, (although he's not keen on cheese either). It's funny, my dd will hardly eat or drink anything other than milk and cheese!

Also I found my ds got extra snuggly after I stopped bf, think he missed the closeness too so comes up for extra cuddles throughout the day .

Thank you for replying - I think DD is in the same boat as your DS as she doesn't want to drink cows milk on its own but she does eat lots of dairy inc milk in cereal.
Oh and good that the snuggliness continues!
