I put on lots of weight during my pregnancy and really would like to start trying to lose some now. I dont want to hinder my milk but was wondering if it is ok to diet while bf?? I was going to give slim fast a try as there are lots of vitamins and minerals in it??

Not too sure about diets per se, but I know that if you are looking for a regulated diet that you can do while breast feeding slimming world is probably best. Or something along those lines. Avoid anything like slim fast. I wouldn't do that even if I was still breast feeding! Yuk, tastes vile and is very boring. You need to have a balanced diet while you are nourishing your baby.

Other than a regimented diet try slimming world or weight watchers. At least you get to eat food, meet other people and they will advise you on correct nutrition whilst bf. Other than that go to your practise nurse, she will be able to give you diet sheets and help you along the way without paying a weekly fee!

Eat healthily and exercise. You won't affect your milk by dieting but if you cut out nutrients you need, then you will suffer.

don't diet!! don't do it!! several mums i know did and they struggled with their supply, then got worried about it, vicious circle and you have enough on your plate surely?
Just eat healthy and try...very hard....to avoid cake. think that was my undoing. Surely if you eat healthy (and lots of it) and do regular exercise you shouldn't put on any weight?
The classes with prams with a personal trainer that you can do in parks etc are pretty good? Any near you? Is it practical for you? I got much fitter with those than I realised. About to do a 10k run as a result!! good luck anyhoo
