Why can't I make up several bottles at a time and keep them in the fridge until needed?

....if they are made with boiling water in sterile bottles and placed in the fridge and used within 12hrs? (or even 24hrs...but maybe that's pushing it a bit!?)

No need to get shirty. I know I can do what I want - just wondering what the rationalle for running under tap was rather than putting in a jug of water for 5 minutes therefore allowing myself to multi-task a bit. If you don't know, don't post.

Thanks for website - it does say you can put in a container of cold water. I do try and follow guidelines but like to know why I'm doing something.

Sorry...didn't mean to be snappy!

What's important is to get it to the right temperature as quickly as possibel to reduce the amount of time that the salmonella has to multiply.

So running water is quickest, jug of cold water the next and left on the side or put warm into the fridge def not.

Bike - the current guidelines say to kill off bacteria in the powder it must be heated above 70degrees. That is what we are talking about, the op asked why she couldnt make bottles up and put them in the fridge. So when does your feed get above 70?

I'm not saying this is right or wrong and everyone will just do what they want! Just wondered!

That's ok, I'm a bit hormonal. Have only just started using powdered formula - been bf up to now and it all seems such a hastle. Oh well, not long 'till cows milk
