What's the longest a 3 month old should go at night between feeds?

My 3 month old DS is a big boy (13lbs 14 & 61cm) and mainly takes all of his milk during the day every 3 hours totalling 30-35oz. With the odd exception, he has been sleeping through since 5 weeks from around 10-5 with his last feed around 8.30pm. He slept right through til 6.30 this morning having not eaten since 8.30 last night and I have to admit that I changed his nappy to stir him as he seemed in such a deep sleep I got worried - his blood sugar dropped several times when he was born because I wasn't producing breast milk so this always worries me. My question is, given his age and size, should I still be worrying about blood sugar dropping and should I have left him to wake naturally?

I would ask my HV but everytime I ask her anything, she quotes research at me rather than actual experienced advice. Many thanks.

i'd say that if he needs feeding he;ll wake. if he stays asleep he is fine at that age and size!
ds1 slept all night from 8 weeks and has done ever since - he's 3 now!
ds2 still doesnt slepp through at 14 months!

My DS2 is 15 weeks and does exactly the same as yours - sleeps like a log at night and isn't interested in feeding, even if I change his nappy I don't know how much he takes during the day as he is BF but what I do know is that if a baby is putting on weight, is healthy and meeting milestones, and seems contented but alert, sleeping through at 3 months is a good thing! If you had been doing controlled crying or cry it out or some other quite extreme sleep training then it would be different, but a baby who sleeps through all by themselves and yet still does well during the day, is obviously getting his needs met. Be grateful - I am, especially after DS1 who is only just sleeping through now at 2!

Thanks everyone.

He is very alert throughout the day - smiling, cooing and even chuckling a bit now too. He appears to be thriving. I think this is probably me being an idiot and not being able to forget the problems we had at the hospital when he was born (mostly down to stupid midwives). It sounds mad but every time he sleeps through, I think he might get weak and die . Madness really given his weight.

Oh bless you, it is completely understandable. I felt the same for ages, waking DS2 up all the time to feed because he had been jaundiced at first and genuinely needed it for a couple of weeks.
