DD was unusually easy to feed, what can I expect with DC2 (who I presume will be more 'normal')?

Despite having to fight hospital bureaucracy to feed DD in the first place we never actually had any problems at all. She was a dream to feed really - no problems with latching on, 10-15 minute feeds every 2 hours or so, no cluster feeding, no biting, no mastitis, no cracked nipples, nothing.

Well, I did have to stop quite a bit sooner than I'd wanted to because it all went a bit pear shaped when I entered the 2nd trimester of this pregnancy, but still we made it to 13 months.

Anyway... I find it very hard to believe that I'm going to be so lucky with DC2 and I fear a more 'normal' baby might be quite a shock. So, what can I realistically expect?

I've managed to get DD addicted to being read to, so that I can (hopefully) amuse her whilst I feed DC2 but other than that I've no plan or strategy at all...

My Dc2 was harder to feed than DD. DS was generally fussy all round though. However the experience I had with DD meant I had so much more confidence and also I knew what it should feel like etc so although DS was harder to get going than DD I was more comfortable with it IYSWIM.
DD took to like a duck to water also.

Mine were both very easy, so you might be lucky!

DS1 was easy to feed but fed all the time. DS2 took more work to get him to latch properly (still struggle now sometimes and he's 17 weeks), but he feeds much quicker and has gained weight more rapidly than ds1. He also goes longer between feeds than ds1 used to at the same age.

Oh blimey, only just seen these replies. I thought this thread had sunk without a trace

Thanks all! It sounds like there's no way of knowing what to expect. That, at least, I should have expected!

Mine were both easy to feed (well, had trouble getting DS to open his mouth, but still no trouble latching) but did both feed all the time in the early weeks.

DD was easy and I never had any problems. I fed her til 18 months and she stopped of her own accord. DS is 6 weeks and so far has been just as easy, no problems BUT he has little patches of cluster feeding (not every evening or anything just randomly) which is a bit of a shock to me. I guess it might be also that with dd I was just feeding her and not trying to give my attention to a toddler as well.

I guess you'll just have to take it how it comes and hope for the best! Good luck

My dd (2nd child) was even easier than my ds so you never know...! Although the 20 month old 'big' brother running and smacking her on the head in the middle of a feed was a bit tricky. Good luck!
