Possibly a stupid question, but, will expressing tiny quantities of colostrum at 30 wks PG have any negative consequences?

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and DD's got the beginnings of conjunctivitis. I've had great success treating it with EBM before. I'm trying treating it with colostrum now to see if it helps but after hand expressing 2 'doses' (an absolute max of 10ml in total) I'm wondering if it could have any negative consiquences for me.

I'm not convinced colostrum will actually work in the same miraculous way BM does and obviously I'll seek medical help DDs eyes don't improve smartish...

worth doing imo. some people (eg with diabetes) are encouraged to express colostrum during pregnancy to feed to their newborns so i reckon it'll be fine.

it won;t have any negative consequences AFAIK

once your baby is born and the placenta is delivered, there will be big hormonal changes, you will produce more colostrum and your milk will then come in fully

No, because it's perfectly safe to bf during pregnancy, so expressing will also be safe.

Excellent! Thanks! I knew BF in pregnancy was fine (unfortunately it didn't work out for us) but it's good to be sure this is fine too.
