Please tell me when the nipple pain will go!

I am 15 weeks pg and feeding DS who is 2. It's agony when he latches on (especially when he feeds in his new favourite position, crouching beside me ) sore when he feeds and absolute agony when he dislatches slo-o-wly! I think he's teething as well which never helps as it always makes him a bit bitey but this really hurts! When will the tender nipples thing get better?
I've never had anything like this before - HATS OFF to women who had feeds like this right at the beginning, if I hadn't had 2 years of pain free feeding there's no way I'd carry on.

Oww!! I had a lot of this as well, it does get better with time. Main thing is just keep checking to make sure there is no nipple damage and keep checking the latch? I presume you have some lansinoh?

As far as I can tell its different for everyone I will be 19weeks on tuesday and the agony has ended for me - for the time being.

Totally agree about the slow grazing dislatch my ds is still doing that. Have you tried rubbing anbesol on his gums to numb them before feeds? It helped all 3 of mine when they were teething/b/feeding.

Are you planning on tandem feeding? There is a thread somewhere on feeding in pregnancy and tandem feeding that I found v helpful but seem to have lost from my watching

Hope the agony ends soon!!

Thanks both of you
lanisoh! Yes I do have some but it didn;t occur to me to use it! Will dig it out now.
kkq, thanks, would be nice to think it's over at 19w! Think I can last until then. Hoping to tandem feed but just seeing how it goes - I can't see him cutting down or stopping any time soon.

Same with my ds (no3)- I can't see him stopping even tho he has voluntarily cut down a lot. I'm back to colostrum now and I don't think he likes it as much, but he still needs the closeness at least every couple of days or he's not himself.

I intended on tandem feeding dd1 and dd2 but dd1 weaned herself as soon as I reverted to colostrum at 12weeks. Just really hoping that i don't end up with jealousy issues over breastfeeding, my ds will only be 20 months when no4 arrives...

Fingers crossed

Glad to have helped!
I did try anubesol when ds was really scraping my nipples with his new teeth but eventually he adjusted his latch. I think we'll be going through phases of this as more and more teeth come through!!
I thought they would have all their teeth by 2, but SIL's dd cut her last molar when she was just over 3!

I ahve a blister sob sob
But will dig out the lanisoh tonight. Luckily I can still feed off that breast.
How do women do this when their babies are tiny! I would be a gibbering wreck if this was DS's sloe source of food!

Just in case anyone in a similar position is reading this, I would like to mention that the agony (and the blister) have gone - last few feeds ahve been OK. Nipples still sore but nothing I can't manage.
