Can you tell me what everyone is doing about it? If anything at all? I just visited a friend and she has binned all plastic stuff with the "wrong" logo on it. You know, the little triangle with a number inside that is the code for the components of the item. I thought that if I just don't pour hot things on the BPA plastic cups, then it should be ok. Right? I'll probably wait and buy BPA-free bottles or just glass bottles when the new baby comes...

my tommee tippee closer to nature bottle have PC on them so they have it I hope so anyway as I binned them they are bought last year. I was using them a little for boiled water. I was fine but after I read up on it I decided not to risk anything. they have brought out bpa free ones now, but are still selling the other kind too. Mothercare has a bit on their site saying in Europe bpa is in safe levels in bottles but then tell you not to put boiling water in them and so on, so also my mothercare ones got binned as they have no logo at all but from the site info it is clear they contain bpa. I got some ultra cheap tesco bottles , cloudy with a 3 in the triangle, look very cheapy but no bpa.

aargh the 3 ones can also apparently leach and the safe things are glass and 5# in the triangle. is a nightmare and apparently rubber nipples bad? to the bin again? balls.

I am totally confused over this issue too!
Looked in Boots yesterday- and most bottles/cups had no mention of what their components were.
I am bfing, but ds will need to have bottle/cup sometimes when I go back to work. We currently have 1 avent bottle left over from dd (also bf, never took a bottle), but we also have some cups (tommee tippee, avent magic cup etc) how do we know if these are safe or not?

well it seems #5 and glass are safe, with silicon nipples, from what I can understand

EachPeach - read the Avent website - the magic cups are fine

I saw some blue Boots own brand bottles with a 5 on the bottom - so they should be okay

Didn't know about the numbers at the time so I bought MAM ones instead

I'm expecting DC3 next week and have bought MAM bottles as I know they are BPA free (even though I'll be BF I do give ebm in bottles). They are not particularly expensive so it seemed worth buying something BPA free rather than taking an unquantified risk using bottles with BPA.

Having used avent for first 2 children I did not hesistate in buying them again for number 3. Never heard of this bpa thing until I was shopping in mothercare and new TT bottles had bpa free on the box just out of curiosity I typed in bpa on internet to see what it was (I regret that decision now) having not long bought a load of avent bottles and the latest model of the iq steriliser (used milton fo first 2 children)if i buy bpa free bottles is it just going to be a waste of time because my steriliser is not bpa free or should i just carry on with avent bottles in my milton steriliser i only use the electric one now and again coz I do prefer milton.

Just another thing I thought of the goverment says that bpa bottles are ok to use just dont put hot liquids in them to reduce the risk or something along those lines anyway but doesnt that conflict with their advice on making up infant formula with boiled water no less than 70 (do not let a full kettle cool for more than 20 mins.)
I am very confused can anyone help

I have started a petition on this after watching a documentary about how BPA is related to birth defects and breast cancer. If you are interested please sign ☺️:

Thank you in advance
