Yes you can its called canesten. You can get different methods to suit which part of your body has thrush.
Its expensive though. Cost at about £9.00 ish. More than a prescription.

the tablet is about £10 but the cream/pessary, etc is a bit cheaper. The chemist own make thrush treatments tend to be cheaper too.

No you cant. He needs to be prescribed Nystatin by the GP or infant Diflucan.

You can also buy diflucan for yourself OTC.

Try reducing sugar intake for you and also dairy products for the next two weeks.

So you can see if you really have it...

Yeast infection (Thrush)

This overgrowth of yeast can be on your nipples and in your milk ducts in your breasts, as well as in your baby's mouth and gastro-intestinal tract.

It causes sore nipples and can cause intraductal pain in your breasts (burning, shooting pain during and after feedings). In your baby, a white tongue can be an early sign of oral yeast (thrush). If not treated, it will progress to patches of white on tongue and cheeks. It causes a sore throat and tongue and, sometimes red, sore skin in the diaper area, along with irritability and excessive gas. A baby with a sore mouth from yeast will often not feed well, coming off and on throughout the feeding or feeding in a way that hurts your nipples i.e. clicking or nipple compression.

Also eat lots of live yoghurt, or actimel type drinks.

But, get yourself to the gp before it gets too painful! It can cause Mums to give up breastfeeding because of the pain!!

Go see a doc. I didn't get diagnosed till 6 weeks and was in agony. It's really really hard to get rid of once it takes a hold as it was in my milk ducts, so anything that came into contact with my milk was infected - breast pads, bra, towels etc and the spores grow back in 90 minutes.

DON'T take the oral canasten, it goes through in your breastmilk. They may prescribe you fluconazol which is the same thing but a much lower, safe dose.

You'll also need cream for your nips and gel or drops for baby's mouth, even if baby is showing no signs of it you need to treat baby so you're not passing it back and forth.

Good luck, it's really horrid but you CAN get rid of it even in severe cases like mine.
