14 week old bf baby feeding all day

Am bf my 14 week old dd and today she has done nothing but feed in between school runs! Should I just go with it, I am worried that I have not got enough milk for her - she has not slept today apart from in the car. Do they normally have a growth spurt around now?

can't remember if they have a growth spurt around this time, but it sounds like she is boosting your supply, it will prob settle down again in a couple of days

Yes it's probably a growth spurt, as mabel says, to up your supply.

Thanks for that - she fed all day yesterday without sleeping, but tired herself out so slept through the night which is a good thing! She is just as hungry today so am actually enjoying the excuse to sit and do nothing but feed and enjoy the lovely sunshine! I do find the way the body responds to the baby's demands so incredible!

They do have a growth spurt around 3 mths, so yes, this is def. a growth spurt.

You make more milk by feeding more often so there's no way you will run out! It'll be over in a few days.

I don't think anyone can say 'definitely a growth spurt', sorry How do we know with a few lines on a talkboard ?

The evidence for growth spurts happening at specific and predictable times is thin - no research on this at all, or even a survey that I am aware of. However, we do know that babies feed not at a consistent rate, and that growth is not consistently the same...and that it's normal for babies to have 'feeding frenzies' that last a day or a few days, and these can happen at any time.

They may do this because of 'growth' but it's equally possible they need extra comfort for some reason, or they are fighting infection, or are going through some sort of developmental leap - there is research to show babies become unsettled just before a developmental change.

Whatever....in an otherwise well baby, it's not an issue and going with the flow is usually the easiest way to cope with it!
