Do I have to chuck the milk? (sad)

I express milk for my daughter whilst at work (she's 12 months). I've expressed milk this morning, and annoyingly found that the only storage bag I seem to have with me may well have been an old one (the tear off bit wasn't on it). I've expressed in the bag as usual because if I don't I'm going to be horribly engorged by the end of the day. So, question is, assuming it is a bag that's already been used, do I have to throw away the milk? I'd transfer the milk to a new bag this evening, but obviously don't want to take any risks if it would be safer for her to throw away the milk.

Thanks!

i think best throw it away in case of contamination although your dd is 12months sterilising isnt a issue i dont think it would be wise to risk it

I think this is a 'common sense' situation, violeta - there is no study I am aware of that looks at contamination issues of old storage bags and ebm.

A 12 month old baby is presumably putting all sorts of dirty stuff near and in her mouth.

Dirtier stuff than an old storage bag, that's for sure.

Did the bag look clean enough?

It wouldn't bother me, personally, but I am not you. But is it a big deal to chuck the milk (after all, there is plenty more where that came from, unless you have no further opportunity to express before you need it)? Chuck it if you are going to worry about it.
