Crashing hormones as ds drops feeds. Sympathy needed.

DS is 3.4yo and has been a milk monster feeding many times a day until recently.

For the last couple of weeks or so, he has barely fed through the day, but has fed morning/night and once through the night.

On Saturday he went to bed with no milk for only the third time in his life. I was going out and he chose to have milk in the morning rather than before bed. So, he went a full 24 hours without feeding . Then last night, he slept through, so missed a night feed.

I can feel my hormones crashing around me just from missing a couple of feeds on top of the drop in datime feeding.

I know it will pass but I think I have become an oxytocin addict and am not sure I like the idea of coming off it!!

I just want tea and sympathy please.

Much sympathy and empathy (and tea!) coming your way - DS2 (3.2yo) went without feeding for two days at the end of Feb - that, coinciding with the fact it had been February for far longer than it had any right to be (bleak, miserable, snow, cold - how is it possible it's only 28 days long?!) meant I was all over the place.

He's feeding once or twice a day again now, but it is interesting it seems to have an effect, even on so few feeds.

Good job he so clearly loves it, or I might think I was only doing it for me, eh?

I am surprised too at how little it takes for me to feel the difference.

I guess when I'm only doing two or three feeds a day then missing one is a significant proportion.

February is shite, isn't it!

Loathe it.

Literally as soon as the calendar flipped to March, I felt lighter.

I think I might try hibernation next winter - will stock up on nuts and berries and wrap up warm in a toasty cave somewhere. Or something.

mawbroon · 09/03/2009 22:45

I always like the idea of hibernation.

Stuff your face all summer with the aim of getting fat. Then sleep all winter and when you wake up, you are thin! Perfect.

I am going to have to stop troughing so much cake if DS is cutting down feeding this much.

Bugger re cake.

Are you still trying for another one (oh, that's rather personal, isn't it!)? Don't answer if you'd rather not!

mawbroon · 09/03/2009 22:56

Nah, not personal at all when I have been moaning on MN about 2 years ttc while breastfeeding.

Yes, still trying. My last cycle was sort of an improvement, I ovulated on day 12 which is almost sensible! My luteal phase was still really short though, despite using progesterone cream, so my entire cycle was 22 days. I am pretty certain I had implantation bleeding though, but at the same time the lining was already starting to shed, so no hope for the wee thing. Anyway, I might have more luck next cycle if DS keeps on like this..

Fingers crossed - does sound more promising

Thanks

Dh has just bought one of those instant water thingies, so loads of tea and tons of sympathy here

Maybe even a couple of jammie dodgers if you come and vist!

Hope it passes soon MB

I think we are in for a long time of ds not being able to make up his mind.

This morning, he fed for almost an hour in bed (great, more lying in bed for me, but he insisted on twiddling the whole time aaargh) and has asked for milk already, and it's only 9am!

Pehaps I should feed him all day today so I am not feeling crabbit when the Care Commission come to do my inspection tomorrow.
