Breast-feeding question.......

Having just read a thread on here about having too much milk and leaking everywhere, why do some women seem to have hardly any milk at all and others have what seems like far too much?

My poor DS barely got anything out of me and I'm hoping my new bundle of joy will have enough.

I'm just so jealous of women who leak milk everywhere! I wanna be like that, but how???

I know the size of your boobs doesn't indicate milk supply but mine are rather on the small size. In fact they only went up one cup size last time during and after pregnancy and so far this pregnancy they have done the same.

I'd swap your leaky boobs for mine any day!

Just wondering what makes you say your DS hardly got anything out of you.

I don't leak, have never had to use breastpads which some people find surprising, and don't think I could hand express like some people do.

However, I am still feeding my nearly one year old and he has thrived, despite me never knowing how much milk he takes

I never leaked much either. In fact, I've just sorted out some stuff for our new nursery and have just found some boxes of unopened breast pads. I've always been able to express, and I am still breastfeeding DS at the grand old age of 2.4 years.

I think my breasts are just very effective storage vessels!

I leaked like crazy first time round, second time hardly at all.

You will have plenty dont worry

Never leak once supply has gone past the first boobs-like-footballs stage three days after birth.
You never think baby has enough but as long as they are growing and putting weight on its fine.
PS i always thought i was starving poor DS1.. thank god 11 years later i have DS2 and mumsnet with all the info about boosting supply with fenugreek ect if you're worried but also the info such as cluster feeding which i now know DS1 was doing and i always thought my supply was crap and not providing him with enough milk.
DS2 is also a milk monster on an evening but this time i know why lol.

oooh Fenugreek, I think I've heard of that as a milk booster

I want to be able to express which was a real problem last time. It took me an hour to get out half an ounce. I know this has no baring on how much milk baby is getting but it's really important to me that DP can help with feeding.

Maybe DS was getting enough but he wasn't really gaining much weight and he used to make such a fuss when trying to feed, like he was frustrated - even though he was latched on properly. Unfortunately I eventually gave up after only 5 weeks (of hell) and gave him formula. Well, you'd think he'd never been fed before! He was like a different baby. Broke my heart though

usually am barely an a cup - am an amazing b/c cup atm after ds 3 weeks old. i have leaky nips and need pads in 24hrs. however, can't manually express and can't usually tell if ds has 'emptied' a breast - which is tricky.

Only thing with fenugreek is it makes you smell like curry a bit lol it did wonders for me though, well maybe just in my mind, i dont use it now tbh.
DS had tongue tie, then thrush and i used to cry when i was feeding him and will him not to wake up for a feed.
Once all corrected it was fine.
And if it wasn't for MN i would not have known about the TT, or the thrush, and the members who posted support when i was on the verge of giving up..bless them
Now we have a brilliant feeding relationship and i'm glad i didn't give up but the sore nips i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy
