when did your baby drop from 4 to 3 day time bfs?

my dd is 1 in a week (where did that go?) and still feeds 4 times a day (on waking, after morning nap, after afternoon nap, and to bed, plus twice in the night for good measure). I'm wondering when she might drop one of the day time feeds, partly as I am going back to work 3 days a week in a week.
thanks!

IHeartIona - it's fine to help your baby adjust her feeding to fit in with you, 'cos she's old enough to cope with amendments to her timetable

Older babies are very adaptable - she can feed several times a day (in your case, 4 x) when you are with her, and cope just fine 2 x on the days you are at work, and plenty of working mums will testify to the flexibilty you can achieve.

Whoever is caring for her when you are at work will just give her a drink or a snack when she wakes after those naps.

If you want to assure yourself she will cope with 3 x a day as a 'dry run' for work, then you can do this at home (drink or snack) a couple of times before you actually start back.

thanks for your reply tiktok - I know you're a bfc and bf expert so really pleased to hear your input.

I did try the other day to get her to drop the morning feed - put her in the highchair with her beaker and several mini breadsticks (her fave) and delayed it (the feed) by an hour and a half then she was crying so I gave in! but it could have been her teeth hurting her. I will try again!

When I went back to work part time with my previous babies, I found they fed plenty of times during the days when I was home but were fine without on working days.

No point in making her distressed, IHeartIona - when you are around she is likely to express her love and need for you by wanting a bf but when you are not, she will cope OK

Agree with tiktok . As another example, dd feeds about 6+ times per 24hrs and she's 19 months. But, on days when I'm not there, she doesn't miss it when I'm not around. Likewise with ds from about 12 months when I was working part-time.

Good luck with the return to work

thanks DitsyMe, tiktok and Grendle for your reasurring posts.
had our first settling in session today, just an hour or so with me there, and she was on my knee to start but ventured down and playing with a few toys next to me by the end.
one hour tomorrow with me not there (or that's the plan, they said if she is upset still after 20 mins or so they will get me to come back).
Fingers crossed!

I also asked about bfing when I pick her up at the end of the days and there is a lovely comfy sofa I can use in the room, which is great! (or can go to a more private area if I want)
