Not to stop feeding my 2yo!
OK, I had asked and he wasn't listing the benefits for me, he just said there was no need to stop.

If your happy to continue then why not.

I was asking whether bf was contributing to his gunky ears - my mum said that eating and drinking lying down could casue liquid to pool in the eustachian tube.
I wasn't actually asking whether I should stop (DS enjoys feeding sitting up but messes around) but that's how he interpreted it.

Oh right.

Wow. That seems extremely enlightened for a GP. Aren't they usually the first to tell mums to wean?
Mine told me in a most emphatic voice that "he (DS) needs food by 6 months". We gave him baby rice and other food and it promptly made him sicker than sick. So I continued exclusively BFing him. Tried food again at 10 mos - voila, more mature GI tract, baby happy to try everything and no problems. GPs. She's otherwise lovely so I didn't get into it with her but still .

Yes - I was expecting at least to be told there was no need for that any more - was very pleasantly surprised!

I thought that the action of breastfeeding was established as helpful for reducing the chances of ear problems actually. I was happy to get positive comments off midwife when going for 1st appointment (expecting no 2) and explaining that DD had only just weaned (at 3 years 5 months) so I didn't really need the BF DVD.

Hooray for your doc!

I am pleasantly surprised to have a midwife at the moment who tandem fed two of her children, and fed her youngest until age 4 (same age as ds).

It is lovely to be looked after by somebody who understands!!

Woohoo
I was at the Drs recently with DS2 (2.4 at the time) who was refusing all fluids food and the Dr who said the only reason he wasn't dehydrated was probably the he was BF. So much nicer than the wretched Dr who told me not to give him milk when he had a vomiting bug at 9 months but to give squash instead as it would be less likely to upset his tummy further
