I breastfed my gorgeous Gracie for 6 months, then introduced some puree's. She has been such an angel since day one, and is now 9 and a half months old and pretty much eating normal meals. She was having 5 breastfeeds a day, but started to lose interest and bite me (She has 10 teeth already!!!!) She then started just having a morning and night feed when she was approaching 9 months. Then she got her first cold, and was struggling to feed from me-we tried nasal saline drops and everything, but because I panicked that she wasn't getting enough vitamins, I started to give her a doidy cup of formula in the morning. Since then, she has shown no interest at all about feeding from me, and I have now stopped feeding her myself, but she now won't take any ilk apart from the morning. She has a varied and good diet, and I don't feel worried about what she eats, but is it set in stone that they need to have more than 200ml milk each day-She sleeps through and is so so happy!!!

don't know if its set in stone about the quantity of milk but i kept being told 20 oz (is that 200ml???) anyway, principle the same, no way was my dd taking 20oz over a day, more like 15 but she was thriving and putting on weight.

now she takes at least 22 oz BUT i have to reduce this cos her food intake has dropped and she is in danger of becoming a milkaholic! - so, i think you may have the balance ok if your dd is eating normal meals and having other fluids - water / diluted juices etc alongside her morning milk. how much does she take in the morning?

i think the quantity of milk is to ensure adequate calcuim uptake so as long as she is getting cheese, yoghurts, f frais etc that should be ok.

maybe have a chat with your hv, but i think she will say as long as your dd is happy and thriving that's your answer.
