Survey aimed at new parents (about bottle-warmers)

Hi!

Am researching a project for school, and am looking for any new parents to take 2 mins for a little survey.

Just wanted to find out the extent of bottle-warmer usage when feeding...

Thanks for your help in this matter!

Johanna

The survey needs tightening up a bit. If you say you never use a warmer then it is impossible to say what type.

My baby drank milk straight from the fridge, as many do.

Also, bottle warmers are NOT "indispensable when bottle-feeding ones child". It's quite possible in many cases to bottle-feed with milk at fridge temperature or at room temperature.

I can't complete the survey for the same reason as Snowlight. I never use a warmer and there is no 'not applicable' option for question 3 onwards.

My baby also has milk straight from the fridge on the rare occasion that doesn't get it directly from me.

Some useful feedback for your project I hope.

I use a warmer for expressed breastmilk and I hate that I do. I think it must kill a lot of the living, active cells. I started using one because I didn't know it was optional, and now my child is used to it and gets distressed if I don't warm it and won't eat much - and with ebm, waste is a problem.

I think parents should be told warming milk isn't necessary, and that you shouldn't start to, frankly. But that wouldn't be very profitable for the companies in question, so is unlikely to happen.

Sorry, know that isn't much help to you.

My dcs are older, but I just wanted to agree with the other posters. Bottle warmers are not necessary and they are very restrictive if you want to be out and about.

Jokle - get your teacher involved in the wording and sampling of your survey. The way it stands at the moment will lose you marks if it is being assessed.

As posters here say, bottle warmers are certainly not essential; not every parent uses a bottle ever; those that do may never warm it; those that warm it may never use a warmer. You cannot ask what mothers 'prefer' by way of bottle or breastfeeding. It's impossible to answer. Many mothers may 'prefer' to breastfeed but end up bottle feeding some or all of the time for various reasons.

My advice: start again

(Please don't say you have to hand your project in this afternoon )

tiktok I think it depends on the assessment and the level wrt the marks.

Is it a project about learning web-survey tools, or a project about research methedology, or a design project or a biology project for that matter?

In any case OP, you do need to have a think about the 'assumptions' that underpin your survey.

Hope that helps.
