How come my 5m bf little boy can do green poo? What's in my milk?

It's normal and depends on what you have been eating.

I find that poo goes green when exposed to the air - so if DS has pooed and I haven't noticed, by the time I change his nappy the poo might be green.

Just one cause of it anyway

Can also be caused by swallowing excessive saliva.

dd2 had a few green nappies a couple of weeks ago - she was drooling for Britain at the time (pre-teething). I found it also gave her a sunburn type nappy rash as it makes the poo more acidic...

My 4.5 month old DD had green poo for approx 7 days 3 weeks ago.
I was told that it may be caused by an inbalance in the milk, too much foremilk and not enough hind apparently, but not to worry if she was putting on weight, happy etc.
Anyway, it still bugged me so I called my fave BF Counscillor (sp?), she'd given me advice in the past with my older children and she reckoned I probably needed to re-examine my latch as DD and I had both probably lapsed into lazy, bad habits.
So, over the phone she talked me through the proper latch technique and would you know, once we got it sussed, took a day or two of practising it did feel different/better and by day 5 her poo's were yellowey again.
I rang the BF councillor to thank her and let her know it had worked and she said that no-one ever believes her when she tells them even established feeders need to re-examine their latch techniques from time to time.
Try it.

If the green poo is on the foamy, bubbly or loose side then the fore/hindmilk imbalance thing is likely.

Thanks.

He has been drooling a lot, so it could be saliva.

I will also check our latch.
