Crying whilst breastfeeding

Hi
I have been breastfeeding my four and a half month old baby, Seb, since day one, and it's been going well. However, he now gets very upset when he feeds on me. He starts drinking away happily for just a few minutes, then pulss off has a cry or just a little moan, then he goes again, then the same thing. I don't think it's teething as we had this before and he was in more pain, and I could tell it was painful for him to feed. This is something else. When he comes off I offer him the other side and he starts on that. Sometimes he'll feed well then, and sometimes the same thing happens. Usually the feed ends in tears. I worry that he's not feeding enough because of this and it makes feeding a bit stressful whereas it was something that we both enjoyed.
He doesn't do this in the middle of the night I hasten to add!
Hope someone might be able to help!

It could be teeth or wind, my 3 month old sometimes gets like this and it is normally relieved by winding for a long long time, if that doesnt work i get up and walk about for a few mins, look in the mirror or somthing and then try again 99 times out of 100 he is then happy to feed.

blockd nose probably

Is he old enough for karvol? If not, run ahot bath and feed baby in the steamy room.

Hi. My 6 wk old does something similar and it usually proves to be wind. I've learnt that I need to wind him for a lot longer than i ever thought necessary before it all comes up and he's happy to feed again. Also seems to relieve it if I make sure his tummy is tucked well into mine so he's really facing me.

I'd say it was wind also.

A friend of mine feeds until her baby has a pause, winds, goes back to breast. Seems to work.

Or, try rubbing tummy -- in circular motions very gently under belly button.

If he is latching on and off several times in quick succession, this can be a sign of a full bladder. When my baby DS does this, I potty him and usually catch a wee. You could try changing Seb's nappy to see if that stops the upset.
