Is it okay to breast feed when pregnant with baby 2?

Hello,
I've just found out that I am pregnant with Baby 2, I am still partially feeding Baby 1, now 10 months, so growing up fast.
Is it okay to continue to feed my baby or do I need to stop in case I damage Baby 2?
Thanks in advance.

Perfectly okay to keep going with breastfeeding. Sometimes you can get nipple discomfort from feeding in pregnancy (I am - some days it's agony, some days fine.)

absolutely fine! plenty of people do it, and you can also go on to feed both of them once the baby is born if you want to.

you may find your supply drops during pregnancy though

There's a thread about it here.

The general rule in pregnancy is that the baby gets what it needs from you first so it won't miss out cause your older one is bf but you will get last dibs on energy and nutrition!! Make sure you look after yourself

Phew, that's a relief, I can stop panicking now! Thank you for your swift responses.

Congratulations!

Absolutely fine. You may find that (a) your supply drops off a bit (b) it becomes a bit painful again (I got that toe-curling latching-on thing happening once I was about 16 weeks pregnant) and/or (c) that you get a bit "weirded out" by the breastfeeding after a while (I was glad I'd been warned about that one).

But you may find that none of those happens to you. And even if they do, you can carry on breastfeeding successfully through them and go on to tandem nurse both children.

(The exceptions are if the new pregnancy is twins, when most authorities suggest weaning the older child, or if you have some specific medical condition associated with your pregnancy that makes it inadvisable).

It's pure laziness on my part-I know that if my daughter wakes in the night it settles her quickly. I really don't think she is fussed at all whether it is boob or bottle, she doesn't seem to have a preference.

There is a support thread in this forum. I was about to go and post something there so it will bump it up and make it easier for you to find.

Thank you very much
