Does anyone have any nifty ideas for how to clean the straw part of the cup? Can't seem to get the suds out. TIA

i just put it, and the valve bit, into a tupperware of slightly soapy water and leave to soak.

cup & lid go in dishwasher.

Then next day, I rinse off straw and valve under a running tap (warm to hot water) and bob's your uncle.

I had the same issues with my DS straw cups. They would be manky inside from the hard water.
I'd leave in bleach to soak over night once a week. That seemed to get the worst out.
I swapped to one of those cups with a rubber rim that they drink from. I can't remember what its called. Will search for a link for you.

This is what I was talking about.
We tried it when he was about 20 months and he hated it, but I gave it to him again at 23 months and he didn't bat an eye lid and supped his drink straight down.

Thanks silverfrog. Don't you find you have to hold the straw under the tap forever?

Thanks Lizzzombie - and for the recommendation.

erm, no

I think because they never dry out (literally leave them soaking until I need to use them) then it's not so much of a problem.

So am just flushing throught to get rid of soapy taste form the water they were soaking in, iyswim.

Lakeland sell some very nifty tiny brushes to go down spouts etc in a set of five on a ring. We use one of those.

We use some craft pipe cleaners twist 2 or 3 together so it is almost as thick as the straw and shove into the straw first from one and then the other (they are not long enough to go the whole way through) then rinse under running water.
