DD has been BF so far and never had a bottle of any description so I don't know yet if she'll take one. I 'started' BLW (don't slap me please it's only been a few fruit/veg and 1 accidental piece of toast so far!)a couple of weeks ago.

Despite many words of encouragement etc etc I just don't feel able to keep going with this demand Bfeeding which is currently happening up to 4 times a night and I'm aware that if I go down the BLW route it could be a long time before she's taking enough solids to enable me to reduce the milk feeds. I don't want to give up BF completely but now really want to introduce some formula to replace 1 or 2 milk feeds a day. Should I be attempting to use a cup or a bottle at this stage? Will starting her on a bottle this late make it more difficult to get her to use a cup soon?

Any other advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation?

Thanks very much

My dd was bottle & bf from quite early and have never had a problem with cups. She is 14mo now and has water in a cup during the day and a bottle of milk at night. I am hoping to start her having her milk a little earlier and then giving her a cup for milk instead, but i am in no hurry as she doesn't seem that bothered. If you want to give her 1 bottle a day that is entirely your decision and as long as you start her with a cup when she can handle it, i don't see a problem. The one thing that anoys me is when you see 3yo drinking juice from a bottle

be warned, my DS who is 6.5 months will not touch formula, he was exc bf from birth too! he will drink ebm for a bottle though - have u given ur dd bottled ebm before?

i would offer formula in a bottle, and give water from a cup at mealtimes, then they will get used to both.

itcanwait - instead of replacing feeds with ff could you put in more of a routine instead with the bf?
