Weaning ds off the boob...

ds is 17 months old and currently has a breast feed in the morning and before bed. I am really pleased with myself for getting this far but feel now is the time to start weaning him off the boob. I plan to drop the morning feed first and see how we get on, am quite happy to do the bedtime feed for a little longer and see how I feel. Ds won't take cows milk from a cup but has plenty in cereal and has cheese and yogurt throughout the day. Will he be getting enough dairy with just one breast feed a day? Also, I thought I might introduce some juice in the morning to go with his breakfast. He has only had water so far so can anyone enlighten me on the best sort of juice to give him? Sorry, that last question sounds a little bit pfb, but then he is!!

Bump as not really sure but i would have though just sticking with water would be best for his teeth? if he is taking it ok now i personally wouldnt give juice as he'll expect it ever meal.

It seems to me he has plenty of dairy its 3 portions a day isnt it?

If your worried about vitamins lost you can get some free drop from your doctors?

Not an expert but hth.

sorry, can't help but smile, you calling bf dairy

know what you mean though

just posted on another thread about the same topic, sounds like ds will be fine.

why do you want to introduce juice? Bad for teeth and no health benefits. If he is happy with water I would keep it that way.

If you do want to give juice just use normal pure juice, eg apple, and dilute well with water.

at madmouse, obviously my breast milk is gold top!

Think I will stick to water then. I was only going to introduce juice as that is what I have in the morning and I feel bad for ds not having my delish booby milk and just having plain old boring water.

Does juice not provide any vitamins then? Sorry if I'm being thick but thought it counted as 1 of your 5 a day. When do children normally start drinking juice? It's just some of my friends give it to their babies and I feel like I'm a freak for just giving water.

sure there are some vitamins in juice, mainly vit c, which will be obtained from a varied diet anyway.

but hey juice is not a crime, if you feel like it go for it
