what to do about bras...

dd is 8 months and i am in the process of stopping bf. am a bit ambivalent about it but overall i think it is the right decision, i am back at work in 3 weeks and also i want my body back (among other things i have pretty bad eczema and want to be able to use a type of ointment that is not allowed when bfing- call me selfish, but it is really affecting me).

anyway, i digress. at the mo i am doing first thing in the morning and 2-3 times in the night. my goal is to cut down but realistically i don't think i will be able to stop completely by the time i go back to work, esp the night feeds as they are so convenient to get her to fall back asleep. but i just can't bear the look of my old and grey and saggy nursing bras any more, and i want to be able to wear decent ones for work... is it worth getting fitted or will my boobs shrink further once i stop completely? how long does it take?

Hi beforesunrise. 8 months of bf is great. I bf my dd2 until 10 months, then gave it up except for the early hours/first thing in the morning feed. (I work shifts which aren't really compatible with expressing/finishing work on time etc)

Anyway, with both my dds, my breasts seem to go back to my more "normal" size (a bit smaller in fact) at around 6 months iirc. I think by that point milk supply had settled down a lot. Do you think that you have got smaller or changed size/shape at all? In my case by the time my dds were about 6 months my nursing bras were ridiculously baggy both in back and cup size.

In your position (well this is what I did) I would go and get fitted for say 2 or even 3 (finances permitting) bras. I felt absolutely fab once I was wearing new bras.
dd2 is now 16 months and still having the odd morning/night feed and my breasts haven't changed at all for many months. My new bras (not so new now) are still a perfect fit.

My nursing bras were still in good condition and I passed them on to another mner!
