I'm still bfing 18mo dd. Af took ages to come back but I'm now on my 4th or 5th period. We are ttc but no luck yet.

I know it's early days but a) we got pg with dd straight away; b) I'm 38; and c) I've read that just because you've got your periods back doesn't mean your ovulating, I'm wondering if I should get checked that I am ovulating and all is fine. (This is not so much an oh no not pg yet thing, more a given all the circs I might as well be thorough and sure.) The other option is to wean but that's going to be HARD and it would be nice to know I don't need to.

Are the over-the-counter ovulation kits reliable? Is it worth talking to my gp? Anyone had any experience of all this?

Thanks

Just alighted on this thread while searching on the topic of BF and getting pregnant - and it has answered so many of my questions.

I'm 37 and still BFing DS, 24 months, a ridiculous number of times a day (basically every time I sit down ). Periods returned when he was 6 months old and have been regular ever since (25-28 days) so I am hopeful I am ovulating properly - although have been TTC for a couple of months so far and no joy yet. Although it would probably help if DH and I weren't so permanently knackered that we can only manage it once a month ...

Here's hoping the lucky thread will work its magic on all of us TTC.

As the person who started it I'm thrilled this thread is still lucky. I'm now 35 weeks pg and still bfing dd a bit - although there's not much there for her these days. Wishing you all the best!

oooh a lucky thread - marvelous. Reading through it is impressive the number of people who have got BFPs. I'm hoping for some magic dust too

I'm BFing my 23 month old DD (as a previous poster says pretty much every time I sit down!) day and night but am ttc DC2. Only had one AF since she was born which was a pretty unimpressive effort - I kidded myself on for days it was implantation bleeding but one BFN later decided to pack that in!

So I've ordered the Toni Weschler book from the library and am looking forward to having a read of that.

My fingers and toes are crossed for everyone else BFing and ttc.

So hope the magic hasnt worn off..... I am bf my 2yo and have been ttc for 11 months now. Everything crossed :)
