Teeth and breastfeeding

My son is 10 months and has three top front teeth coming through - I really feel like they are grating against my right nipple when I feed him, but never get this sensation on the left nipple. Any ideas about why this might be, and what I can do about it, e.g. positions? I normally feed him lying down, or occasionally with him lying on a pillow on my lap.

Try positioning him a little lower than you would normally i.e. lying him down a bit lower. It'll mean he has to tip his head back further which should take the pressure off a bit. He could possibly be a bit lazier latching on on the right than the left. This is quite common while they're getting used to the new funny feeling in their mouths, it does go away soon enough.

Thanks, will definitely try that!

Make sure to still keep him close to the breast. If he is too far away he will dig his teeth in to stay on. Hope it eases soon

Hi

My little one was teething recently and I had to get my doctor to prescribe lansinoh as I was a little bit sore as his latch must of changed a bit (due to his discomfort?).

It eased after a week and all is well now - his top 2 teeth came through. Discomfort has passed now - I found that feeding lying down was the worst culprit so had to get up at night for a few nights.
