does irregular eating affect supply?

I don't eat very regularly, I loved to cook before I got pregnant/had DD and now find it pretty depressing trying to work out what to cook when I'm tired/under time pressures/want something quick healthy and filling/am getting fat from eating junk...

so have not been eating very regularly, sometimes toast, sometimes a mountain of pasta, lots of unhealthy things eg biscuits, hot chocolate etc.

Does this affect supply? read on kelly mom that it doesn't matter to baby but can affect mother's health??

kookie - women have fed their babies in war zones, concentration camps and famine areas.

the babies tend to do fairly well even in these extremes - their mums do not. Any spare energy & vitamins and minerals go to the baby not you.

Try and plan a weeks meals in advance? And stick to it? Include fresh stuff and ready meals in a good balance so you don't have to spend hours in the kitchen.

It can affect how you feel, which can affect how you feel about feeding the baby and how you perceive your supply. There's no evidence it actually does affect your supply. Composition of breastmilk can be affected to an extent by what you eat, and that's why the 2 portions a week of oily fish are recommended to bf women. See here. However, as the pp says, your body's very good at making sure baby gets enough.

One thing that is important is to make sure that you drink enough fluids. Generally a glass of water per feed and when you feel thirsty should be plenty.
