How to persuade DS to take a "proper" feed from a cup when replacing BF?

Hi all, hope this hasn't been done a million times before but... our DS is 1 now, he is still BF but when he was younger he learned to take occasional bottles of EBM instead if I needed to go out or anything. But a few months back, for various reasons we didn't give him a bottle for several weeks in a row (only BF), and after that he seemed to forget or lose interest in bottles, and since then he would take a few sips at most but wouldn't have a proper feed from the bottle any more. (I am still kicking myself about letting that happen!).

Now he is older, he quite happily drinks from a cup at meals (milk or water). But if we give him a cup or bottle at the time he would normally have his BF (mornings & bedtime), he has a few sips but hardly any - I'm sure he has much more when he is BF. He doesn't hate the cup or anything, just isn't interested in drinking much from it. How can I persuade him to take a "proper" feed from a cup? I would like his dad/gran to be able to feed him again if I need to go out, and am also thinking we might want to stop BF in a while, but I don't want to stop without being sure he will get enough milk! The "cup or nothing" approach doesn't really seem to work as he will just take the "nothing" option and be quite happy, which is OK as a one-off I suppose but if it was more regular I would worry that he isn't getting enough milk. Any good ideas to persuade him to have more? Thank you!
