A decent breastfeeding pillow?

I don't seem able to breastfeed without a breastfeeding cushion. At the moment I'm using a boppy which is ok at home baby does tend to slip down though...can anyone recommend one that you can carry around that actually does the job!?

How old is your baby?

The older they get the easier it is without a pillow.

I was the same, I actually breastfed with a pillow until I gave up at 8 months. Try Thrupenny Bits breastfeeding pillows, I was never without mine in fact I had one for home and a small one for out and about, they tie on so there's no slippage and they look lovely unlike most other breastfeeding cushions. They even convert to a bag! Mumsnet have them in their reviews section in the gift to new parents, I know this cos I left a review last week!

Thanks for your suggestions, so far I'd say the nicest and probably most portable is Thrupenny Bits, I'll do some research!

I have a Widgey and the mothercare one, but for the first few weeks used a normal bed pillow as it was easier - tiny babies tend to fall down the gap between a shaped pillow and you - at least, that was my experience.

Now I use the widgey upstairs for bedtime feeds, as I sit on a low, armless chair and it's firmer and offers more support, and the mothercare one downstairs, as it squishes better on the chair I sit on there. DS (9m) is on it at the moment!

Thanks for again for your suggestions, my boppy is I think quite similar to the widgey and it does do the job at home but I need one to carry around. I've bit the bullet and purchased a Thrupenny Bits Ultimate range nursing pillow, having done my research they've had rave reviews and dare I say it actually might make breastfeeding glamourous! Plus they tie on so hopefully will alleviate the baby slipping down the gap scenario. I'm really looking forward to it arriving, fingers crossed it doesn't dissapoint, I'll keep you posted......

Mine is called the Brest Friend. It is firm foam, has an adjustable clip around the waist which undoes silently and two raised bits either end where babe's head can go. I am still using it now DS is nearly 9mths although if I am not sitting down I use a hand underneath to support his weight. I used it for the underarm nursing position when he was younger too. They are pricey new but I got mine on ebay ridiculously cheaply. It is not really portable, for that I use an inflatable flat pillow by Great Expectations, or just struggle! Another good one IMO is the US Kozy Kushion. I hadn't seen Thrupenny Bits before - they look gorgeous.

Hiya, I'm a convert (!)the Thrupennny Bits Breast-feeding pillow is gorgeous a real yummy mummy must I'm actually using it right now to breastfeed whilst typing! It has straps that tie on so it doesn't slip off making it possible to carry on with all sorts of stuff. I went for the Ultimate black white and red one filled filled with Buckwheat Hulls. Plus I like the idea of buying something actually designed by a Mum who's breastfed 2 children. Because of the Buckwheat filler it is a bit too heavy to carry around so I'm waiting for a smaller one from the cute cord range with a poly filling (apparently it's almost wieghtless?). It is quite pricey but does convert to a bag after (how genious is that!) I'd really like one to replace the unsightly Boppy for the bedroom as well, the Blue Floral looks gorgeous! I'm getting slightly carried away with these....
