Well, that's it really: horribly painful bf.

DS is just over 2 weeks old and he's my 3rd.

Have seen the exorcist "baby vomiting (my) blood" thing for the 3rd time now. And for the 3rd time am feeding round the clock plus a good long session of cluster feeding and it HURTS. Have to nerve myself up to latch on each time. Again and again and again.

(milk supply is fine, baby is fine by the way and I have the good sense to be grateful for that.)

Aaaaaaaggghhh, what a ridiculous way for a species to nourish its young.

And breathe....

parecetemol (sp?!) and chanting - it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better it does get better

at 2 weeks I imagine all the happy hormones have left, and you're just sooooo tired etc. Things will get better when you get more (even an hour!) sleep

BlueCowNowIsLowing · 01/12/2008 03:13

sorry, was I really supposed to ignore!?

RoseOfTheOrient · 01/12/2008 03:44

poor you...
congrats by the way... missed the birth announcement...
erm, yeah, what BlueCow said - it will get better. And MN can take your mind off the agony...

There is a homeopathic remedy called Phytolacca that is fabulous for painful breasts and BF'ing. Helped me a lot. Get it in 30C strength, take 3 pilules every 15 min until pain gets better, then 3 pilules three to five timees a day. That was the only thing that helped, Lansinoh wasn't worth crap.
Congratulations BTW!!

Oh. Oops. Was meant to ignore, wasn't I? Sorry, couldn't do it. Can't pass by agony without wanting to offer a hug. ((((H))))

aaaah, you're all so nice, and here I am just being a spoilt brat, am so lucky to have a lovely baby.

Over the 3 children I've pretty much worked my way through the list of helpful techniques and solutions... I'm a Bad Patient and the despair of our madwife because none of these things seem to help.

In fact the only thing that really worked for me in the past was time, although swapping positions does make a difference and Lansinoh is at least useful for stopping the scabs from sticking to the breast pads (sorry, possibly TMI).

And bluecow is right - it's always worse on no sleep. It's bedtime in NZ and I'm off to get some zzz while I can!
