Cost of formula?

Just curious, really... I bf, so have never bought or used formula, but I was wondering how much it works out as per bottle. I can see (from the Tesco's site) that one kind costs £7.95 per tin, and another £5.50, but how many feeds do you get from a tin, or rather, how many oz?

Perhaps that's the easier calculation to make: how much does it cost per oz of milk? Is it comparable with normal cow's milk?

I would imagine formula works out cheaper than cows milk. Although you can't really compare because you can't give cows milk to a baby so you just have to pay the price of formula if you don't bf.

cow's milk is cheaper than formula.
no idea how much it works out at per ounce but it's bloody expensive

A large tin of FF would last about 6 or 7 days for a baby under 6mths (or not weaned)

Don't know how much it would be per feed.

it would also depend how much of a feed they took at a time i.e. if your lo was taking an 8oz feed each time then it wouldnt last as long compared to a baby only taking 6oz.

ISTR that a scoop of the formula I used was 5g. So, a 900g tin has 180 scoops in and 1 scoop = 1 oz. A £7.95 tin would therefore work out at about 4.4p per oz, plus the price of boiling the water to make up.

OK, lots of variables, but maybe about £1 per day? Interesting. Thanks for responding.
