HELP please - Excruciating pain in one breast after lying down - what on earth is it????

DS is 11.5 months - have been cutting down feeds with a view to stopping fairly soonish. He has also been biting a bit so at first that was what I thought the problem was but I don't think it can be...

A week ago I went away for the weekend (without DS) and expressed morning and night but got a blocked duct which was really sore. When i got back I fed DS and it seemed fine but ever since then I have had pain in that breast. It hurts when he first latches on for a few seconds and is then OK. But it particularly hurts in the morning when I get up or if I have been lying down for any other reason. it is so sore tht it makes me shout out in pain.

Anyone know what on earth it could be? I have had thrush and mastitis and cracked nipples so am no stranger to breast pain! But it doesn't feel like any of those. Anyone had anything similar? Do I need to go to the GP or is there anything I can do to relieve it myself? TIA

Blocked Duct? hard and lumpy in one area and painful to touch?

Pressure on a nerve maybe?

HERE?

thanks sawyer - pretty sure it's not a blocked duct - no hard lumps - the pain is in the nipple, I think - or else just behind it.

Thanks for the link but don't think it is any of those things.

Could be pressure on a nerve - what would I do about that?

Not alot I guess,be aware when you go to bed maybe, don't lie on your front??

Speak to a BFC,or post this on Breastfeeding for some of the Experts to help you, otherwise I'd get checked out by GP,might be a "chronic mastitis" or something similar, maybe.

thanks sawyer - I do sometimes sleep on my front so will watch that and see my GP if it doesn't get better over the next few days

Thanks again for answering

No help to offer at all. But a huge slab of sympathy with some grated chocolate sympathy on top.
