6w preg - milk supply seems to have drastically reduced - anyone else had this?

DD is 21 months and still feeds when she wakes up and when she goes to bed, but the last few days I don't seem to have much milk? Breasts really floppy and empty feeling even just before she feeds (sorry if too much info!)

DD still sucks away quite happily but I think it's probably more a comfort/habit thing.

Anyway, did anyone else lose their supply in pregnancy? Or did it come back later on? And did you wean fully or wait for your toddler to give up themselves?

Advice welcome, thanks in advance

Yes i did, and i also felt like i was passing glass through my nipples. My dd1 was 25 months and self weaned due to it. However, i know a mum who took the More Milk Two ticture and that helped her..

In the first trimester my milk supply did dip and I took more food and rest and it came back. Am still feeding DD (25 months) and DS too now (4 months).

The painful bit for me lasted till 10 weeks and then everything was fine.

Thanks determination. Did your DD self-wean early in your pregnancy?

Mmm. My milk supply has gone down more, I think, rather than picked up (now 17 weeks). DS sucks really hard now (his cheeks go way in), but he doesn't seem to be getting much... We're like you, and do mornings and evenings, and I wonder sometimes about stopping - but even though he's not getting much, I know he'd mind the change. I'm all for comfort and habit myself, so why shouldn't he be...

GB,
Yes she self weaned by the time i was around 14 weeks. I think she was ready to anyway but the dip in supply made her decide for sure.

Do you know we've got a pregnant and nursing support thread?

Tink and this baby have a similar age gap and I found that I couldn't feed her so much in the early days as it was quite painful, but as the pain passed I was able to feed her more often. It's still supply and demand. I'm now (28 + 4 weeks) starting to get quite full again. I'm not able to feed her everyday at the moment because she's living with my parents (I'm suffering badly from PGP and been in labour for 4 weeks tomorrow, so I'm not the best person to be looking after her) but I get dive bombed when she sees me! I'm obviously keeping up to her demand. When I came home from hospital when I first went into labour I hadn't seen her for two weeks and she was still able to feed.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you want to carry on then taking it easy isn't going to do any damage if it's what you need to do.

Thanks all
I did try to find a relevant thread before starting this but
didn't manage - could someone link to the support thread please? Or tell me the title?
Thank you

It's called "pregnant and nursing support thread" Ghostbuster - sorry I don't know how to link to it!

I'm 25+4 weeks pregnant and still feeding my ds (14 months) twice a day just like you. My milk supply dived completely very early on as well and is still low, but I think it's starting to pick up again finally!

None of this has put ds off and I'm quite happy to leave the decision about weaning up to him - despite the "passing glass through the nipples" sensation that Determination describes!!

Anyway, good luck with things and congrats on your pregnancy!
